It was a beautiful fall day here in Atlanta. Anna started the evening by helping Daddy rake the leaves/pine needles in the front yard.
We topped off the evening by taking Anna to her first high school football game. The Centennial Knights play just down the road and we went to cheer them on. It was the last home game of the season and they played well (I think). We left during the first quarter, but stayed long enough to see the Knights score a touchdown on the opening kick off. Very exciting!
Banners have come a long way since I was in high school. Anna and I had a blast "people watching" during the game. The crowd sparked several conversations between Jeff and I, such as, "Will we ever let Anna wear a skirt that short?" and "I can't believe the cheerleaders were talking during the national anthem!" Perhaps what amazed us both the most was the amount of kids drinking Red Bull at the game. It seemed like every other kid had a can. It made my heart race just watching them. I'm old.
Anna turned 10 months on Monday, and I think the past month has been her most amazing so far. Everything just started clicking for her and we are astonished by how much she can do all of a sudden. She crawls all over the place, when she isn't "cruising" the furniture. She isn't afraid to let go and stand alone, but is careful to hold on to something if she wants to move. She claps when we tell her to clap, which just blew my mind. This is the first time I really knew she understood what we said. This has led to saying, "Let's touch noses," and she turns towards us and gets really still. We brush her nose with ours and she giggles. It's the greatest. Jeff is working on, "What does and owl say?" and she answers, "Who, who." Too cute! Of course, she waves at everyone which is fun, too. Everyone says she'll be walking soon, but I'm not in a hurry. I feel like I'm still trying to catch up now that she is moving. We are still waiting for teeth, but she eats fine without them, so no hurry on those either. She is doing just one nap a day now, which is kind of a bummer for me since it isn't necessarily a long nap, but it makes for great snuggle time at bed time. The other night she fell asleep in my arms and I rocked her longer than usual. There just isn't a better feeling than a sleeping baby in your arms.
We took our little pumpkin to the pumpkin patch today. We met the Sagers there and had a great time. It was 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Perhaps that is why Anna isn't smiling in any of the pictures. We were all pretty hot, but I couldn't resist putting her in her new cords for the trip!
